Closing my eyes, I take another hit of the joint I’ve been smoking for the last few minutes, before putting it out with my fingers. I’ve been chilling in the bed of my truck for the past hour, not ready to go home yet.

After my shift ended at Midnight, I went to Underground, but couldn’t get my head into skating. The only place I wanted to be was right here with Kennedy. The more time I spend with her, the more I fall for her, and it’s fucking with my head to not know if she’s ready for me yet.

I know it’s only been a day since she told Dax they need a break, but I need to work fast if I’m going to ensure that break remains permanent. I can’t let the little bit of guilt I feel hold me back. I keep reminding myself he brought this on himself. He could’ve had any girl he wanted—all the girls had a crush on him—yet he chose the one I wanted just to make sure I couldn’t have it.

I sit up and crack my neck. Last call is in ten minutes, and there’s only one car left in the parking lot other than mine and Kennedy’s. I’m counting on that person to leave real soon. I’m growing impatient to be alone with her.

Finally, about ten minutes after last call, some older guy steps out of the bar. I give him a few minutes to take off before I jump out of my truck, shut the tailgate, and head for the door.

“Last call was ten minutes ago,” Kennedy calls out without looking up to see who just walked in. “Sorry…” She pauses, a small smile taking over when she sees me. “I thought you left a long time ago.”

“I did.” I lock the door behind me. “But I’m back now.”

She eyes me over, looking more nervous the closer I get to her. “What are you doing back? Don’t you have other places you’d rather be?”

I shake my head. “You already know the answer to that, Kennedy? Why ask it?”

“I don’t know,” she whispers when I stop in front of her. All it takes is her gaze lowering to my lips and I lose it, picking her up and slamming her against the wall. My mouth captures hers and everything else fucking disappears when she kisses me back, her tongue dipping into my mouth.

She isn’t my brother’s; never has been. This girl is mine. I need to show her that before it’s too late. “Colson,” she pants the moment our lips part. “You should’ve gone home.”

“That’s where you’re wrong.” With one hand, I yank my shirt over my head, my hat falling off in the process, before crushing my lips to hers again, her taste making me hard. I want inside of her so fucking bad that I can hardly contain myself. Years’ worth of desire is finally coming to a head.

She moans and slams her head against the wall when I grind my erection between her legs and dig my teeth into her bottom lip.
